Get Holotext
One account, two apps: the Mac app watches your sources and answers on your desktop, the iPhone app carries the same brain in your pocket.
Holotext is invite-only. Anyone can download the apps, but they only work for people who have been let in. Sign in with Google and the app will offer to ask for access; every request is approved by hand, one person at a time.
Mac
Holotext 0.1.0 · Apple silicon · macOS 11+ · 180 MB
The full app: ask, browse everything indexed, connect Gmail, Drive, Notion, folders and the apps on your Mac.
Download for MacApple silicon only (M1 and later). Intel Macs aren't supported yet.
iPhone
TestFlight · iOS 17+ · coming shortly
Ask your own history from your phone, read the sources behind every answer, and get a push when someone shares context with you.
TestFlight link comingApple reviews every beta before its link can be shared. Ask for access on the Mac and you'll get the TestFlight invitation as soon as it clears.
How access works
- Download and open the app. No account is needed to install it.
- Sign in with Google. Holotext identifies you by your verified Google address — nothing is read from your account at this point.
- Ask for access. If you haven't been let in yet, the app says so and offers a button. That sends the request straight to Holotext's owner.
- You're approved. Sign in again and the app is yours: connect Gmail, Drive, Notion or a folder, and Holotext starts building an index that only you can search.
Until you're approved the apps stay closed — there is nothing to see and no index to search. If a request is declined, or access is turned off later, the apps stop working the same way.
The first time you open the Mac app
macOS will say it “can't verify that Holotext is free of malware.” Holotext isn't notarized by Apple yet; that's in progress, and this note will disappear when it lands. Until then:
- Open Holotext from your Applications folder and click Done on the warning.
- Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to Security, and click Open Anyway next to Holotext.
- Confirm with Open Anyway. You only do this once.
What Google will show you
When you connect Gmail or Google Drive, Google shows a screen saying it “hasn't verified this app.” Holotext asks for read-only access to your mail and files so it can search them, and Google's review of apps with that level of access is under way. To continue, choose Advanced and then Go to Holotext.
What Holotext does with that access is in the Privacy Policy: your mail and files are indexed for your own searches only, are never sold, never used for advertising, and never used to train AI models. You can disconnect a source, or have everything deleted, at any time.
